Bengaluru, (Samajweekly) Three people have reportedly died and several others injured in the arson that resulted after an inflammatory social media post in parts of East Bengaluru. Over 100 rioters have been arrested, said the police on Wednesday.
Around 60 police personnel have sustained injuries in the violent incidents of stone pelting and attacks by rioters that erupted on Tuesday evening. Police had to resort to firing in order to bring the situation under control.
Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the city while curfew was clamped in the D.J. Halli and K.G. Halli police station limits. On Tuesday, the two police stations were targets of the violence.
City Commissioner of Police Kamal Pant said that 110 rioters have been arrested in connection with the violence. He also tweeted that the nephew of local MLA, accused of circulating an offensive Facebook post, has been arrested.
Police officials said that protestors had rained bottles at a police van transporting police personnel to the affected area.
Property of the Congress Legislator from Pulakeshi Nagar constituency was attacked and vandalised while several police vehicles were damaged in the violence unleashed by the irate mob on Tuesday...
Gurugram, Around five to six Congress MLAs of Madhya Pradesh were staying in a five star hotel in Gurugram’s Rampura, a source said.
Sources further said that a top BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh was accompanying them.
It is being said that the Congress MLAs have revolted against their party after differences arose between them and Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
The ‘rebel’ MLAs arrived here in the ITC grand Hotel around 8 p.m. on Tuesday and currently were staying on the fifth floor, a source said.
The floor has been cordoned off by the hotel administration, and is said to be under the supervision of the local administration and some trusted men of the BJP...
Indore, Can Chief Minister Kamal Nath dispel the pervading cynicism over big ticket investments in Madhya Pradesh? The strike rate of the preceding government headed by Shivraj Singh Chouhan through the past 15 years had been far from satisfactory.
Apart from the smaller investment meets in the regional towns, three major summits in the commercial hub of Indore in 2012, 2014 and 2016 were held at an average cost of Rs 70 crore. The first investors’ summit after the ascent of Congress government tagged as “Magnificent MP” is being organised at Indore on Friday at a cost of about Rs 30 crore less than half the cost. Kamal Nath has promised a much higher yield.
More importantly, the government is upbeat on the prospects of employment generation through the leap in industrialisation. Questions were raised on the feasibility of the claim of 70 per cent jobs for sons of the soil. Kamal Nath says states like Kerala, Andhra and west Bengal have sought and got more from the industrialists in their states.
Now, on the eve of the investment Summit, the government says 900 industrialists have been invited by the Department of Industry to attend the summit. Every industrialist is expected to bear the cost of stay. The industrialists are also expected to maintain their mobility in Indore and other places at no cost to the government, said an official spokesperson...
Bhopal, The Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh plans big ticket changes in employment rules for recruitment to maximise its intake and keep the cost in check.
Employees recruited at different rungs, including officers, will be on probation for three years instead of two as is the case now. During this time, they will be paid a certain percentage of salary which will rise to full level from the fourth year.
This will provide a big relief to the government which is struggling with economic crisis. Sources say that entry level staff will receive 70 per cent of the minimum salary in the first year, 80 per cent in the second and 90 per cent in the third year. Full salary will be paid from the fourth year.
At present, the employees get full salary from the first month itself, and from the third year they are given an increment of two years of the probation period.
The General Administration Department has drawn up a proposal to this effect which will be placed before the Cabinet shortly, say government sources. The Madhya Pradesh Civil Services General Conditions 1961 are being amended to this effect...
New Delhi, High Drama erupted in Bhopal and Gurugram after eight MLAs, including four Congress, two Bahujan Samaj Party, one Samajwadi Party and one independent, went missing from the state and were tracked in Gurugram by Congress senior leader Digvijaya Singh.
In a late night ‘rescue’ operation headed by former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, one of the MLAs was brought back.
Around 2 a.m., Congress leaders Jitu Patwari and Digvijaya Singh’s son Jai Vardhan Singh, both ministers in the Kamal Nath government, reached a luxury hotel in Haryana and brought back suspended BSP MLA Ramabai.
Sources say contact was also established with Congress MLA Bishulal Singh, but so far he has not returned.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh said, “When we got to know about this, we tried to get back the MLAs and Ramabai has come back while others want to come, but the BJP is trying to stop the MLAs.”
The development comes a day after Digvijaya Singh accused the BJP of poaching its party Legislators to topple the Congress government in the state.
Singh had alleged that the MLAs were being offered huge cash in lieu of support to the BJP...
Bhopal, Both Congress and the BJP appear to be sweating it out to keep their flock in Madhya Pradesh together before the next test of strength during the Rajya Sabha polls due this month.
After former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh’s allegations about BJP leaders offering Rs 25 to 35 crore to Congress MLAs and Rs 5 crore in advance and the remaining amounts in part, both parties have intensified efforts to keep the numbers intact.
Digvijaya Singh had on Monday put on record what was already in public domain since the past few months. The BJP leaders have also said it in so many words that all they need is a signal from the top leaders to topple the Kamal Nath government that is still short of a majority in the Assembly.
His specific charge on Monday was against former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his senior colleague Narottam Mishra. For the seriousness of the charges, the BJP leaders’ response was curiously casual. Mishra only said: “I would not like to take Digvijaya’s charges seriously. He is known to be in the news through such tactics.”
Chouhan, in a tweet, said: “Telling lies to cause sensation is an old habit of
Digvijaya Singh. He must have done it this time to pressure the government for
some unfulfilled wish.”..
