MP records 89 fresh corona cases

Bhopal, (Samajweekly) Neemuch, a town from Green Zone in west Madhya Pradesh reported four coronavirus cases to add to the health authorities’ woes on Wednesday as the state records 89 fresh corona cases in 24 hours taking the total tally to 3,138. In the last 24 hours, nine people have died of coronavirus taking the death toll to 185, a health official said. Four deaths were reported in Bhopal, two in Indore and one each in Khandwa, Mandsaur and Burhanpur, official said. Of total deaths due to the pandemic in the state, Indore, the worst-affected district, accounts for 81. It has also 1,681 confirmed cases with 26 new COVID-19 positive persons found since last night. Since Tuesday night, 34 new patients were detected in Bhopal, followed by four each in Mandsaur, Dewas, Ratlam and Neemuch, three each in Jabalpur and Burhanpur, two in Gwalior and one each in Khandwa , Dhar, Agar Malwa, Shajapur and Shivpuri. Bhopal now has 605 cases, Ujjain 184, Jabalpur 109, Khargone 79, Dhar 76, Raisen 63 and Khandwa 50. Overall, COVID-19 cases have been reported from 35 districts with Neemuch for the first time reporting four virus confirmed cases. Apart from Indore (81) and Bhopal (20), 40 persons died in Ujjain, seven each in Khargone, Khandwa and Dewas, four each in Burhanpur and Mandsaur, three each in Hoshangabad, Raisen and Jabalpur and one each in Dhar, Shajapur, Agar Malwa, Chhindwara, Satna and Ashok Nagar...

Jaipur, (Samajweekly) After the resolution of the crisis arising out of rebellion by Congress MLAs owing allegiance to Sachin Pilot, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday said that he would try to know their grievances and then try to win them over. Gehlot was speaking to the media before leaving for Jaisalmer, where MLAs from his camp are staying, to chair a Congress Legislature Party meeting. “As the Chief Minister, it is my responsibility to win the hearts of my MLAs if they have any cause to be annoyed with me. We will try to figure out what all promises were made to them and why they have grudges,” he said. Gehlot pointed out that a 3-member committee has been formed by the Congress high command to look into the grievances of MLAs. However, Gehlot parried the question about his opinion on Pilot’s return to the Congress fold as the Chief Minister had earlier dubbed his once-deputy ‘nikamma’ and ‘nakara’ (incompetent, worthless). Venugopal said, “Congress President Sonia Gandhi has decided that the AICC will constitute a three-member committee to address the issues raised by Sachin Pilot, the aggrieved MLA, and arrive at an appropriate resolution thereof.” “Sachin Pilot has met former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and expressed his grievances in detail. Jaipur, (Samajweekly) Rajasthan’s former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot visited Tonk, his assembly constituency, on Wednesday to a spirited welcome by people at various places, and said this had left him “humbled”. Addressing a public hearing in Tonk, Pilot said: “I am not a part of the (Ashok Gehlot) government any more. Neither am I a Deputy Chief Minister nor am I the state (Congress) President. Despite this, I am humbled to see the enthusiasm of people. We shall work to resolve all issues soon as our government has three more years to work. I am grateful to people for a rousing welcome.” After the programme, Pilot went to the district Collectorate where he attended a meeting with district officials and people’s representatives. He gave a patient hearing to people’s problems and also collected officials’ feedback on different issues, including the Covid-19 pandemic.
