Khandare, a 1995 batch officer Indian Police Service officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, has been appointed the head of police of Ladakh UT with effect from October 31, “until further orders”, a Home Ministry statement said. Foreign funding case: PTI shows no trust in Pak EC chief

Islamabad, Ahead of a verdict in the foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan’s ruling party has raised questions about impartiality of Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd.) Sardar Muhammad Raza. Raza is likely to issue a verdict in the foreign funding case before his retirement on December 6. Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over the PTI’s core committee meeting on Sunday and reiterated the party’s demand that Election Commission hear cases of all three major political parties – PTI, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), simultaneously and refrain from singling out PTI. “The ECP should follow rules, give equal opportunities to all the parties and conduct across-the-board accountability,” Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan told reporters after the core committee’s meeting. Exoplanet that vanished from sight likely never existed

Washington, (Samajweekly) What astronomers thought was a planet beyond our solar system has now seemingly vanished from sight, suggesting that the exoplanet likely never existed. The object, called Fomalhaut b, was first announced in 2008, based on observations made by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope in 2004 and 2006. It was clearly visible in several years of Hubble observations that revealed it was a moving dot. But data analysis of Hubble images taken in 2014 showed the object had vanished. A new study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) suggests that the Hubble was instead looking at an expanding cloud of very fine dust particles from two icy bodies that smashed into each other. Hubble came along too late to witness the suspected collision but may have captured its aftermath, said the study. The missing-in-action planet was last seen orbiting the star Fomalhaut, 25 light years away. “These collisions are exceedingly rare and so this is a big deal that we actually get to see evidence of one,” said Andras Gaspar, an assistant astronomer at the University of Arizona’s Steward Observatory and lead author of a research paper announcing the discovery...

Yes Bank posts staggering Q3 standalone net loss of Rs 18,560 cr

Mumbai, Financially troubled Yes Bank on Saturday reported a standalone net loss of Rs 18,560.31 crore for the third quarter of the financial year 2019-20. This is amongst the biggest losses reported by the India Inc. At present, the private lender is under a moratorium and is controlled by the office of the administrator appointed by the RBI. The bank had reported a net profit of Rs 1,001.85 crore during the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Besides, the bank’s total income fell to Rs 6,268.50 crore from Rs 8,849.81 crore earned during the October-December quarter of the previous fiscal. On consolidated basis, Yes Bank reported a net loss of Rs 18,564.24 crore for the December quarter from a net profit of Rs 1,000.57 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. The independent auditor’s review report on the consolidated results pointed out that there is a “material uncertainty related to going concern” of the bank. “The said assumption of going concern is dependent upon the degree of success of the final reconstruction scheme, the quantum of capital infused into the bank and the bank’s ability to stabalise its deposit balances post withdrawal of the moratorium by the RBI. Melbourne, (Samajweekly) Australia’s Victoria state, the worst-hit by the coronavirus pandemic, has extended a strict Covid-19 lockdown by another two weeks, as infection numbers had not fallen enough to ease restrictions. Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Sunday that stage 4 restrictions would remain in place until September 28, with only a slight easing until October, reports Xinhua news agency. Andrews said that despite the impact of the lockdowns on Victoria and the state’s economy, modelling had clearly shown that to reopen prematurely would lead to a rapid increase in case numbers. “There is only one option and that is to do this in a series of steady and safe steps. You can’t run out of lockdown. Because all you are doing is running into a third wave and we’ll all be locked up again,” Andrews said. Victoria has been at the centre of Australia’s second wave of Covid-19 infections, recording close to 20,000 of the country’s 26,279 total cases, as well as roughly 90 per cent of deaths, which on Monday topped 800. (ਸਮਾਜਵੀਕਲੀ) ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ‘ਬਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ’ ਤੇ ‘ਅਸ਼ਟਮ ਬਲਬੀਰਾ’ ਜਿਹੇ ਲਫਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਦੇ ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਵਾਰਸ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਸਨ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼1656 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਏ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕੀਰਤਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ। ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਏ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਾਬਾ ਰਾਮਰਾਇ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਔਰੰਗਜੇਬ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ-ਰਸੂਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਪੰਕਤੀ ‘ਮਿਟੀ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕੀ ਪੇੜੈ ਪਈ ਕੁਮਿਆਰ’ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਮਿੱਟੀ ਬੇਈਮਾਨ ਕੀ, ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਗੱਦੀ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਜੋਂ 6 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ, 1661 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਆਸੀਨ ਹੋਏ। ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ 5 ਸਾਲ, 3 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਾਏ ਧੀਰ ਮੱਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਸੰਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਢਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਇੱਧਰੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੀ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੱਕ ਹੈ। ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੇ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਵਿਉਂਤਾਂ ਗੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਪਰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਕਸਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੀ। ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਦਖ਼ਲ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਬੇ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪਧਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ‘ਨਹਿ ਮਲੇਸ਼ ਕੋ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਹ ਹੈ’ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਵਰਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਧਮਕੀ ਹੇਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦਿਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਣਖ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਇਕ ਸਾਖੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਕ ਵਾਰ ਆਪ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਇੱਕ ਕੋਹੜੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਲੇਟ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ।..

(ਸਮਾਜਵੀਕਲੀ) ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ‘ਬਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ’ ਤੇ ‘ਅਸ਼ਟਮ ਬਲਬੀਰਾ’ ਜਿਹੇ ਲਫਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਦੇ ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਵਾਰਸ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਸਨ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼1656 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਏ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕੀਰਤਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ। ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਏ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਾਬਾ ਰਾਮਰਾਇ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਔਰੰਗਜੇਬ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ-ਰਸੂਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਪੰਕਤੀ ‘ਮਿਟੀ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕੀ ਪੇੜੈ ਪਈ ਕੁਮਿਆਰ’ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਮਿੱਟੀ ਬੇਈਮਾਨ ਕੀ, ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਗੱਦੀ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਜੋਂ 6 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ, 1661 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਆਸੀਨ ਹੋਏ। ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ 5 ਸਾਲ, 3 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਾਏ ਧੀਰ ਮੱਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਸੰਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਢਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਇੱਧਰੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੀ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੱਕ ਹੈ। ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੇ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਵਿਉਂਤਾਂ ਗੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਪਰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਕਸਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੀ। ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਦਖ਼ਲ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਬੇ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪਧਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ‘ਨਹਿ ਮਲੇਸ਼ ਕੋ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਹ ਹੈ’ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਵਰਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਧਮਕੀ ਹੇਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦਿਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਣਖ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਇਕ ਸਾਖੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਕ ਵਾਰ ਆਪ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਇੱਕ ਕੋਹੜੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਲੇਟ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ।..
