Service chiefs call on Rajnath to review border security

New Delhi, The three service chiefs of India’s armed forces called on Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday for a meeting to review the prevalent security scenario along the country’s borders, with particular focus on the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan. The meeting came in the backdrop of Pakistan’s continuous offensive along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir through ceasefire violations ever since India abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution which granted special status to the state on August 5. “Particular focus was given on the threat posed by Pakistan along the LoC with India. The Defence Minister reviewed the prevailing security situation along India’s borders with its neighbouring countries in his meeting with the three service chiefs. Security situation along the entire international border of India was discussed during the course of the meeting,” sources told IANS. As per sources, the three service chiefs — Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria and Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh — were asked by Rajnath to maintain continuous alert and vigil along the borders...

Pak violates ceasefire in J&K’s Tangdhar sector

Srinagar, (Samajweekly) Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tangdhar sector on Tuesday drawing a strong response from India, officials said. “On 16 June 2020, in the early morning hours, Pakistan initiated an Unprovoked Ceasefire Violation (CFV) along the LoC in Tangdhar Sector by firing mortars and other weapons. Befitting response was given.” Army said in a brief statement. Pakistan has been targeting defence positions and civilian areas near the LoC. Over the last few days there have been a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC in Uri and Tanghdhar sectors in Kashmir and to the South of Pir Panjal in Jammu’s Rajouri and Poonch. Officials said the moderate intensity estimated earthquake occurred at 7 a.m. on Tuesday which measured 5.8 on the Richter scale. “The epicentre of the earthquake was in Tajikistan region and its depth was 100 Kilometres inside the surface of the earth. “The co-ordinates of the quake are latitude 37.7 degrees north and longitude 72.3 degrees east. “No report of any casualty or damage to property has been received from anywhere so far”, officials said. Seismologically, Kashmir is situated in a highly earthquake prone region. Earthquakes have wreaked havoc in Kashmir in the past. ਤੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਉਂਗਲ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ। ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅੱਡੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਲਾਇਆ। ਜਦ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਰੋੜਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਖੜਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਡਟ ਕੇ ਖੜਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਇਆ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੱਗੇ। ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚਲੇ ਤਜ਼ਰਬਿਆਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਲੱਗਾ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੰਮ ਆਇਆ ਸੁਆਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੱਗਾ। ਤੇਰੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਤੇ ਸੇਧ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪੁੱਜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁਕਾਮ ਤੱਕ। ਤੇਰੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਅੱਜ। ਤੇਰੀ ਵਧਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੈ ਡਾਢਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ। ਡਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਖੋਹ ਨਾ ਲਵੇ ਰੱਬ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ। ਮਿਲਦਾ ਰਹੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਰੱਬ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਰਾਂ ਇਹੋ ਦੁਆਵਾਂ। ‘ਮਾਨ’ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਛਾਵਾਂ। ਮਹਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਪਿੰਡ ਤੇ ਡਾਕ ਰੱਕੜਾਂ ਢਾਹਾ {ਸ.ਭ.ਸ.ਨਗਰ}9915803554..
