A Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel sought replies from the respondents and listed the matter for April 13 hearing. The petitioner, Hindu Sena, pleaded for directions to the Delhi Police to register an FIR against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and party MLAs Waris Pathan from Mumbai and Akbaruddin Owaisi, adding that their speeches had surcharged communal atmosphere in Delhi. Violence had erupted between pro- and anti-CAA groups in northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad, Maujpur and Gokulpuri areas since Sunday. At least 38 persons were killed and over 200 injured in the violence. The petitioner also sought to be impleaded as a respondent in a plea filed by social activist Harsh Mander who had prayed for the registration of an FIR against three BJP leaders — Anurag Thakur, Kapil Mishra and Parvesh Verma. “Mander’s petition is an attempt to aggravate the situation by seeking criminal action against BJP leaders with the sole intention to defame the Hindus as if the community members are the cause of Delhi riot,” the Hindu Sena said in its application...

A Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel sought responses from the central and Delhi governments apart from Delhi Police on a petition filed by Lawyers Voice. The matter will again be heard on April 13. The plea also sought a case against Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia and Amanatullah Khan, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leaders Akbaruddin Owaisi and Waris Pathan, and lawyer Mehmood Paracha. “Issue directions to constitute an SIT to look into these hate speeches and take appropriate action. Issue direction to register an FIR against those named in the petition,” the plea said. The petitioner maintained that if the relief sought was not granted, hardship to him and others will continue. WhatsAppFacebookTwitterTelegramEmailPrint Hyderabad, (Samajweekly) AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi and MBT leader Amjedullah Khan have demanded the Telangana government to implement orders of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to compensate the families of the five undertrials who were gunned down by the police in an alleged encounter in 2015. Hyderabad MP Owaisi hoped that the state government will comply with the NHRC award on the Alair encounter. He tweeted that by an order dated July 29, the NHRC directed compensation of Rs 5 lakhs within four weeks to the kin of those killed in the encounter. Owaisi said the MLAs of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) had repeatedly raised this issue in the Telangana Assembly. The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) has also demanded implementation of the NHRC order and the arrest of all the policemen involved in the encounter. MBT spokesman Amjedullah Khan welcomed the NHRC order directing the state government to pay compensations to the families of Viquar Ahmed, Syed Amjed Ali, Mohmmed Zakir, Mohammed Haneef and Izhar Khan who were killed on April 7, 2015 at Alair, Nalgonda district while being taken from the Warangal Jail to Nampally court in Hyderabad. Khan recalled meeting then NHRC Chairperson Justice K.G. Balakrishnan during his visit to Hyderabad on April 21, 2015 and represented the matter. He said all the five men shown as accused in three cases, including the killing of two home guards were later acquitted by the court. Senior advocate Mohammed Osman Shaheed had lodged a complaint with the NHRC over the ‘fake encounter’. The Hyderabad MP suggested that even after the lifting of the lockdown the government may continue to keep places of worship, cinema halls shut and continue ban on the public gatherings. In his address on the eve of Ramadan, Owaisi appealed to Muslims to offer all prayers during the holy month at home in view of the lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus. He urged them to avoid congregational prayers even at homes. He appealed to the Muslims to ensure that nobody goes hungry during the holy month. “Feeding the hungry is the biggest virtue,” he said. He urged the Muslims to spend as much as possible on poor and the destitute through ‘zakat’ and charity. He said that the Islam and holy Quran lay greater emphasis on feeding the poor, orphans and hungry.
