Trust to open bank accounts, seek donations for Ayodhya mosque

WhatsAppFacebookTwitterTelegramEmailPrint Ayodhya, (Samajweekly) The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF), the trust constituted by the Sunni Waqf Board for the construction of a mosque in Ayodhya, is inviting donations and will open two bank accounts for the purpose. The trust will also set up a website with an inbuilt gateway to receive donations online. “The Trust has decided to open accounts in two private sector banks for receiving donations. Both will be current accounts. Complying with the Supreme Court’s verdict, the Trust will construct a mosque, a hospital, community kitchen, and a library on the 5-acre land allotted to the Waqf Board at Dhannipur village in Ayodhya district,” said Trust Secretary Athar Hussain. A financial officer too has been appointed for audit and keep the records of funds received, he said. “… even non-Muslims are welcome to donate. We are already receiving calls from those willing to donate for the proposed mosque and other public facilities.” The Trust was formed with nine members on board, with six more to be added soon...

Hong Kong, Hong Kong authorities have allowed over 3,600 passengers that were forced into quarantine for five days on the World Dream cruise ship over coronavirus fears, to disembark. Half of the travellers have passed “numerous medical tests” and temperature controls, and all the tests carried out on the ship’s 1,814 crew members have come back negative for coronavirus, Efe news reported citing the Hong Kong Health Department as saying on Sunday. “As all quarantine measures carried out by the Department of Health have been completed, all passengers and crew members can leave the cruise,” Leung Yiu-hong, chief port health officer at the Centre for Health Protection, said at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal on Sunday. Ranchi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that a grand Ram temple would be constructed at Ayodhya. Addressing a rally at Palamau ahead of the November-December Jharkhand Assembly elections, the senior BJP leader said: “BJP does what it promises. People used to say that the BJP makes only promises but we have fulfilled all promises. Now there is one law in country (after removal of Article 370). We formulated law to end triple talaq. A grand Ram temple will be constructed at Ayodhya.” Asserting that the BJP has done work “faster than other governments”, he promised that no family without a home will be left in the country by 2022. “The poor people never had thought that gas cylinder would reach their homes. I thank Chief Minister Raghubar Das for providing gas stoves along with free cylinder. The government has decided that people will not to have fetch water from wells. We will ensure drinking water to every household. Electricity has reached each village,” he said. The Minister also said that the state, has “to a larger extent”, curbed the Maoist menace. “The Maoist are making some efforts before the polls but no one will be allowed to carry guns. Maoist should desist from nefarious activities.”..

Lodha said on Tuesday that while we are celebrating the Human Rights Day, the fact of the matter is that we are struggling to protect human rights. “Are we heading towards a society of lawlessness? Has the rule of law run its course? What happened to the constitutional rights and procedural safeguards,” asked Lodha while speaking at an event to mark Human Rights Day organised by the International Institute of Human Rights here. “People are going back to the 17th century Hammurabi’s code of laws: Eye for eye, tooth for tooth and nail for nail,” he added. Supreme Court judge Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, who was also present at the event, cited the Unnao rape survivor lying burnt on the road and the scene of dead bodies of the alleged accused in the Hyderabad case to present two facets of the country...
