Datia-Udgwan (Madhya Pradesh), (Samajweekly) While Madhya Pradesh witnessed peaceful arrival of 343 migrant labourers from Nashik to Bhopal on Saturday morning there were violent scenes later in the day in the constituency of Health and home minister Narottam Mishra when the police tried to stop labourers coming from Uttar Pradesh. There was a major traffic jam at the border post of the two states in Johariya village on Shivpuri-Jhansi highway when police stopped people from crossing the borders into Madhya Pradesh. With no solution emerging for more than 12 hours the workers created a volatile situation on the highway by blocking traffic with boulders. With stranded vehicles forming long queues on both sides of the border there was a threat of violence.Collector of Datia Rohit Singh, SP Aman Singh Rathore and other officials reached the spot. Collector and SP of Jhansi also reached from UP side. After long discussion between the officials of the two states, 10 vehicles were given passage from each state and traffic was eases on the highway. There were 4,000 workers in 300 vehicles, migrant laborers started arriving at Jhansi Border near Johariya village from around 10 pm on Friday night from places like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP etc. These labourers arrived here from Jhansi by various means to reach Kanpur Dehat, Basti Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Orai, Jalaun, Moth etc. The number of these vehicles exceeded about 300. There were about 4,000 workers among them. After stopping them, when these people did not listen to them, they created a ruckus by creating a ruckus. MP records 89 fresh corona cases

Bhopal, (Samajweekly) Neemuch, a town from Green Zone in west Madhya Pradesh reported four coronavirus cases to add to the health authorities’ woes on Wednesday as the state records 89 fresh corona cases in 24 hours taking the total tally to 3,138. In the last 24 hours, nine people have died of coronavirus taking the death toll to 185, a health official said. Four deaths were reported in Bhopal, two in Indore and one each in Khandwa, Mandsaur and Burhanpur, official said. Of total deaths due to the pandemic in the state, Indore, the worst-affected district, accounts for 81. It has also 1,681 confirmed cases with 26 new COVID-19 positive persons found since last night. Since Tuesday night, 34 new patients were detected in Bhopal, followed by four each in Mandsaur, Dewas, Ratlam and Neemuch, three each in Jabalpur and Burhanpur, two in Gwalior and one each in Khandwa , Dhar, Agar Malwa, Shajapur and Shivpuri. Bhopal now has 605 cases, Ujjain 184, Jabalpur 109, Khargone 79, Dhar 76, Raisen 63 and Khandwa 50. Overall, COVID-19 cases have been reported from 35 districts with Neemuch for the first time reporting four virus confirmed cases. Apart from Indore (81) and Bhopal (20), 40 persons died in Ujjain, seven each in Khargone, Khandwa and Dewas, four each in Burhanpur and Mandsaur, three each in Hoshangabad, Raisen and Jabalpur and one each in Dhar, Shajapur, Agar Malwa, Chhindwara, Satna and Ashok Nagar...

Fresh spurt in corona cases in Bhopal and Indore

In the first four days of June, Bhopal overtook Indore in terms of new cases of corona patients. To Indore’s 147, Bhopal reported 163 coronavirus cases. The figures for the corresponding period last month were Bhopal 55, and Indore 125. Friday’s figures changed the picture with 55 patients testing positive in Indore against Bhopal’s 51. The two major cities have shown that they cannot handle a crisis without enough discipline. Neemuch appeared on the corona map of the state with five cases in the first week of May and recorded a big pike in the past couple of weeks. With 38 cases reported on Friday, Neemuch has logged 290 so far. The state reported 234 fresh cases on Friday just as the administration claimed to have checked the spread of the virus. The health department bulletin issued on Friday reported nearly 150 cases from Indore, Bhopal and Neemuch. The police administration and the health department have some embarrassing questions to answer over the fresh spurt of cases in Indore and Bhopal. The major hotspot in Indore was Khajrana where more than 200 patients were found positive in the past four days. Bhopal has more than a dozen such hotspots, where the number of patients has increased rapidly. This includes Jehangirabad, Aishbagh, Mangalwara, Banganga, Kotra Sultanabad, Qazi Camp, Idgah Hills and other areas. The causes for the rapid rise in numbers in Bhopal are: People not following safe physical distancing, are moving without masks, and lack of sanitation in slums where houses are built above big gutters in narrow lanes with people constantly contacting each other...

Rising corona cases keep Indore in focus

Indore, (Samajweekly) Madhya Pradesh reported 169 corona positive cases on Friday taking the tally to 4,593 while Indore remained on top with 61 new cases. The death toll in Indore reached 98 with two deaths reported overnight on Friday. Bhopal 26, Ujjain 10, Jabalpur 11, Burhanpur 27 were the other hotspots for new cases on Friday. The state government is focused on Indore which has reported 2,299 positive cases so far and figures among the top ten districts in the country. Now more than 12 officials have been asked by the Prime Minister’s office to monitor the city and the district. As the transit point for the migrant labourers travelling from the western states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, the region remains vulnerable for the spread of the virus. Principal secretary industries, Sanjay Shukla and additional chief secretary in charge of health and family welfare department Mohd Suleiman have been asked to closely watch the developments in the region and arrange for all that is needed to bring the situation under control. Adverse publicity over the plight of migrant labourers has alarmed the centre. Thousands of poor families of unskilled labourers who have been rendered jobless are the key concern of all departments. The food and civil supplies department is charting out plans to provide food to these families. BJP national president J P Nadda has led many party workers to spread out in the rural areas and the Union agriculture minister, Narendra Singh Tomar, is backing up the effort.
