SAD seeks probe into minister-gangster nexus in Punjab

Chandigarh, The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Sunday demanded an inquiry by a central agency or a sitting judge of the high court into the Rs 1,000 crore extortion racket being run by gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpur and his associates under the patronage of Punjab Jails Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa. SAD leaders Bikram Singh Majithia and Daljit Singh Cheema demanded that Randhawa should be booked and arrested for extending patronage to Congressmen who brutally murdered former Akali sarpanch Dalbir Dhilwan, besides investigating the role of Bhagwanpur in the murder and the extortion racket being run by him from the jail. The SAD leaders said a central inquiry by the CBI or the National Investigation Agency (NIA) or even by a sitting judge of the high court could alone expose the minister-gangster-police nexus in the murder of Dhilwan and the extortion racket. Majithia said it had been seven days since Dhilwan was murdered but his killers were still at large. “This is all because of the influence of Sukhjinder Randhawa who is giving shelter to the killers. If the police is serious about arresting the assailants, it should search the residence of the minister as well as his close associates,” Majithia said...

Akali MLAs protest outside Punjab Minister’s house, detained

Chandigarh, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) legislators, including Bikram Singh Majithia, were detained after they protested outside Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal’s residence here on Friday. The protesters had accompanied the family members of farmers who had committed suicide due to farm debts. Majithia is the younger brother of Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal. The protesters blocked the entrance of the residence of Manpreet Badal to prevent him from reaching the state Assembly, where he was scheduled to present 2020-21 Budget. After a brief scuffle with the police, the protesters were arrested. Aam Aadmi Party members also protested against the Congress government outside the Assembly here over its alleged failure to fulfil the poll promise of providing jobs to the youth, besides to demand a rollback in hike in electricity rates...

ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ: ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬਿਕਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਵਧ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਦਿਨੀਂ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਬਾਦਲ, ਬਿਕਰਮ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਤੇ ਕੁ ਰੋਲ ਲੀਡਰਾਂ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਕੇਸ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਕੇਸ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀ ਕਾਂਡ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਜਾਂਚ ਟੀਮ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ `ਤੇ ਦਰਜ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਫੀ ਅਹਿਮ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸੂਤਰਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਈਜੀ ਰੈਂਕ ਦੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਦਰਖਾਸਤ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਦਾਇਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੌਸੀਕਿਊਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਦਾਇਰ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ। ਪ੍ਰੌਸੀਕਿਊਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਲੰਘੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀਆਰਪੀਸੀ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ 199 ਤਹਿਤ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਵਕੀਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਫੌਜਦਾਰੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਧਾਰਾਵਾਂ 499, 500, 501 ਤੇ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਐਕਟ ਤਹਿਤ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਅਹਿਮ ਗੱਲ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਈਜੀ ਕੁੰਵਰਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਗਵਾਹ ਵਜੋਂ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਂਡ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਫ਼ਰੀਦਕੋਟ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਬਰਗਾੜੀ ਤੇ ਕੋਟਕਪੂਰਾ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਗੋਲੀ ਕਾਂਡ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਲਈ ਗਠਿਤ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਜਾਂਚ ਟੀਮ (ਸਿਟ) ਦੇ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੰਸਦੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੱਲਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਪੱਖਪਾਤੀ ਤੇ ਬਦਲਾਖੋਰੀ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਤਬਾਦਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।..
