ਵੇਰਕਾ, 28 ਨਵੰਬਰ (ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੱਗਾ)-ਹਲਕਾ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਕਸਬਾ ਵੇਰਕਾ `ਚ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਇਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਫੈਲੀ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਰ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਲਪੇਟ `ਚ ਆਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਵਕੀਲ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਨਗਰ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ `ਚ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ | ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਵੇਰਵੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਪੀੜਤ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਜੇਰੇ ਇਲਾਜ਼ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ (71) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਗਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਸੀ ਸਿਤਾਰਾ ਐਵੀਨਿਊ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਠੇਕੇਦਾਰ ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਮਾਨ ਡੇਂਗੂੁ ਤੋਂ ਪੀੜਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਹਾਰਟ ਅਟੈਕ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪੀੜਤ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਮਜੀਠਾ ਬਾਈਪਾਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮਵਰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਇਲਾਜ ਲਈ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਦੀ ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ਾਨਘਾਟ ਵਿਖੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਿਖਾ ਨੂੰ ਅਗਲੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਗਈ | ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਤੋਂ ਪੀੜਤ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ `ਚ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ 22 ਸਾਲਾ ਨਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਵ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਸੀ ਅਜੀਤ ਨਗਰ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਹ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੁਖਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਗੜਨ `ਤੇ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਥੇ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਪਰ ਰੋਗ `ਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਨਾ ਪੈਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ | ਹਲਕਾ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਦੇ ਵੇਰਕਾ, ਵੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਹਕਮਪੁਰਾ `ਚ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 13 `ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ ਹੈ |..

3 rockets hit Baghdad Airport, 4 cars damaged

Baghdad, (Samajweekly) Three Katyusha rockets landed in Baghdad Airport, damaging four vehicles, the Iraqi military said. The attack took place in the evening when the rockets were fired from Abu Gharib area, west of Baghdad’s city center, and landed in the airport, the media office of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) said in a statement on Sunday, Xinhua news agency reported. One of the rockets struck a car park in the airport and caused damage to four civilian cars, the JOC said. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the rocket attack. Baghdad Airport and the Iraqi military bases housing US troops across Iraq, as well as the US embassy in the Green Zone, have been frequently targeted by mortar and rocket attacks. Over 100 rioters have been arrested, said the police on Wednesday. Around 60 police personnel have sustained injuries in the violent incidents of stone pelting and attacks by rioters that erupted on Tuesday evening. Police had to resort to firing in order to bring the situation under control. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the city while curfew was clamped in the D.J. Halli and K.G. Halli police station limits. On Tuesday, the two police stations were targets of the violence. City Commissioner of Police Kamal Pant said that 110 rioters have been arrested in connection with the violence. He also tweeted that the nephew of local MLA, accused of circulating an offensive Facebook post, has been arrested. Police officials said that protestors had rained bottles at a police van transporting police personnel to the affected area. Property of the Congress Legislator from Pulakeshi Nagar constituency was attacked and vandalised while several police vehicles were damaged in the violence unleashed by the irate mob on Tuesday...
