Datia-Udgwan (Madhya Pradesh), (Samajweekly) While Madhya Pradesh witnessed peaceful arrival of 343 migrant labourers from Nashik to Bhopal on Saturday morning there were violent scenes later in the day in the constituency of Health and home minister Narottam Mishra when the police tried to stop labourers coming from Uttar Pradesh. There was a major traffic jam at the border post of the two states in Johariya village on Shivpuri-Jhansi highway when police stopped people from crossing the borders into Madhya Pradesh. With no solution emerging for more than 12 hours the workers created a volatile situation on the highway by blocking traffic with boulders. With stranded vehicles forming long queues on both sides of the border there was a threat of violence.Collector of Datia Rohit Singh, SP Aman Singh Rathore and other officials reached the spot. Collector and SP of Jhansi also reached from UP side. After long discussion between the officials of the two states, 10 vehicles were given passage from each state and traffic was eases on the highway. There were 4,000 workers in 300 vehicles, migrant laborers started arriving at Jhansi Border near Johariya village from around 10 pm on Friday night from places like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP etc. These labourers arrived here from Jhansi by various means to reach Kanpur Dehat, Basti Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Orai, Jalaun, Moth etc. The number of these vehicles exceeded about 300. There were about 4,000 workers among them. After stopping them, when these people did not listen to them, they created a ruckus by creating a ruckus. Over 100 rioters have been arrested, said the police on Wednesday. Around 60 police personnel have sustained injuries in the violent incidents of stone pelting and attacks by rioters that erupted on Tuesday evening. Police had to resort to firing in order to bring the situation under control. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the city while curfew was clamped in the D.J. Halli and K.G. Halli police station limits. On Tuesday, the two police stations were targets of the violence. City Commissioner of Police Kamal Pant said that 110 rioters have been arrested in connection with the violence. He also tweeted that the nephew of local MLA, accused of circulating an offensive Facebook post, has been arrested. Police officials said that protestors had rained bottles at a police van transporting police personnel to the affected area. Nanning (China), An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit China’s Jingxi city on Monday, killing at least one person and injuring four others. The quake struck at a depth of some 10 km at 9:18 a.m. in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Strong tremors were felt in Daxin as well, Xinhua reported. 3 Indian Army men killed during face-off with Chinese soldiers

New Delhi, (Samajweekly) Three Indian Army men, including an officer, were killed on Monday night during a violent face-off with Chinese People’s Liberation Army troops at Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh region. An Indian Army Colonel, the Commanding Officer of an infantry battalion, and two soldiers were killed during a clash with Chinese troops at one of the stand-off points in the Galwan Valley. Indian Army in a statement said that during the de-escalation process which is underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place on Monday night with casualties. “The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers,” Indian Army said. The force further stated that senior military officials of both the countries are currently meeting at the face-off site to defuse the situation. On Monday, Brigade Commander and company level talks happened in Eastern Ladakh between India and China. The talks are happening near patrolling point 14, near the mouth of Galwan Valley and patrolling point 17 at Hot Spring Area. On June 13, Indian Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane had assured that the entire situation along the borders with China is under control and the process of disengagement has started. General Naravane had said, “I would just like to assure everyone that the entire situation along our borders with China is under control. We’re having a series of talks which started with the Corps Commander level talks on June 6 and has been followed up with meetings at local level between Commanders of equivalent ranks. “As a result, a lot of disengagement has taken place and we are hopeful that through the continued dialogue that we’re having, all perceived differences that we (India and China) have will be set to rest. Everything is under control,” he had said...
