ਵੇਰਕਾ, 28 ਨਵੰਬਰ (ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੱਗਾ)-ਹਲਕਾ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਕਸਬਾ ਵੇਰਕਾ `ਚ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਇਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਫੈਲੀ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਰ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਲਪੇਟ `ਚ ਆਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਵਕੀਲ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਨਗਰ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ `ਚ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ | ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਵੇਰਵੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਪੀੜਤ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਜੇਰੇ ਇਲਾਜ਼ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ (71) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਗਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਸੀ ਸਿਤਾਰਾ ਐਵੀਨਿਊ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਠੇਕੇਦਾਰ ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਮਾਨ ਡੇਂਗੂੁ ਤੋਂ ਪੀੜਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਹਾਰਟ ਅਟੈਕ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪੀੜਤ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਮਜੀਠਾ ਬਾਈਪਾਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮਵਰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਇਲਾਜ ਲਈ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਦੀ ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ਾਨਘਾਟ ਵਿਖੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਿਖਾ ਨੂੰ ਅਗਲੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਗਈ | ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਤੋਂ ਪੀੜਤ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ `ਚ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ 22 ਸਾਲਾ ਨਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਵ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਸੀ ਅਜੀਤ ਨਗਰ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਹ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੁਖਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਗੜਨ `ਤੇ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਥੇ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਪਰ ਰੋਗ `ਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਨਾ ਪੈਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ | ਹਲਕਾ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਦੇ ਵੇਰਕਾ, ਵੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਹਕਮਪੁਰਾ `ਚ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਡੇਂਗੂ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 13 `ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ ਹੈ |..

Srinagar, (Samajweekly) If Srinagar Mayor, Junaid Azim Mattu, survives the no confidence motion brought against him by his opponents, Mattu would get a second lease of life as the city’s top elected functionary. Mattu had survived a no confidence motion against him on December 26, 2019. Srinagar municipal corporation has 74 members, out of which 27 belong to the BJP and the rest are Independents and those belonging to the National Conference and the Congress. BJP spokesman has confirmed that the party supports the motion against the Mayor indirectly, but the National Conference Vice-President and former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has made it clear that his party has no intention of going along with the BJP. Mattu has asserted that the Congress is also not going to support the no confidence motion against him. The no confidence motion has been filed by former Deputy Mayor, Sheikh Imran, who is an Independent member of the corporation. “We will fight this democratically and legally as this is yet another litmus test for the mainstream. This is the second such attempt in six months and we are certain of proving our majority and defeating this blatantly illegal, undemocratic manoeuvring,” Mattu posted in Twitter. (ਸਮਾਜਵੀਕਲੀ) ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ‘ਬਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ’ ਤੇ ‘ਅਸ਼ਟਮ ਬਲਬੀਰਾ’ ਜਿਹੇ ਲਫਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਦੇ ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਵਾਰਸ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਸਨ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼1656 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਏ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕੀਰਤਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ। ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਏ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਾਬਾ ਰਾਮਰਾਇ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਔਰੰਗਜੇਬ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ-ਰਸੂਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਪੰਕਤੀ ‘ਮਿਟੀ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕੀ ਪੇੜੈ ਪਈ ਕੁਮਿਆਰ’ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਮਿੱਟੀ ਬੇਈਮਾਨ ਕੀ, ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਗੱਦੀ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਜੋਂ 6 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ, 1661 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਆਸੀਨ ਹੋਏ। ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ 5 ਸਾਲ, 3 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਾਏ ਧੀਰ ਮੱਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਸੰਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਢਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਇੱਧਰੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੀ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੱਕ ਹੈ। ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੇ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਵਿਉਂਤਾਂ ਗੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਪਰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਕਸਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੀ। ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਦਖ਼ਲ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਬੇ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪਧਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ‘ਨਹਿ ਮਲੇਸ਼ ਕੋ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਹ ਹੈ’ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਵਰਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਧਮਕੀ ਹੇਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦਿਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਣਖ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਇਕ ਸਾਖੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਕ ਵਾਰ ਆਪ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਇੱਕ ਕੋਹੜੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਲੇਟ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ।..

Why is there so much of hatred towards JNU in India’s rich urban savarna class and the root lies in that whatever me the fault line inside JNU and I have said it many time that caste supremacy of the elite remain intact in the JNU, yet it has also provided space to a huge number of groups which would not have got it in any other university. In the last few years, organisations like Birsa Ambedkar Phule Student Association ( BAPSA) has emerged a powerful tool to mobilise the students from the marginalised sections and they have challenged the main power groups. There are other groups too. Ofcourse, it remain the only place where the left student unions still holds their impressive influence over the students and the reason is the huge diversity and representation of wider sections in JNU, a unique point of the University. But this uniqueness is under the challenge now. As JNU provided these spaces and now a large number of the scholars from deprived sections are emerging and challenging the popular narrative and questioning the authorities as well as building alternative narratives and ideas, the dominant forces remain afraid of these new emerging ideas. Basically, it is not a war on JNU but frankly war on India’s Dalit Bahujan classes and their scholars to ensure quality education remain out of their reach...

On days of smog and poor visibility in our cities, we fear the future might already be here,” the President said while speaking at a meeting with IITians and other technical institutes in Rashtrapati Bhavan. “This is that time of the year when the air quality of the national capital as well as of many other cities worsens beyond all norms. We are facing a kind of challenge here that we have never faced before,” he added. The President said that hydrocarbon energy changed the face of the world in the last couple of centuries, but “now it is threatening our very existence”. He added that the challenge is compounded for nations battling to bring substantial sections of populations out of poverty. “Yet, we will have to find alternatives”, he said...
