Delhi restaurant served closure notice for hosting b’day party

New Delhi, (Samajweekly) A restaurant in Rajouri Garden, which hosted a birthday party flouting social distancing norms and served ‘Hookah to the guests, has been served closure notice by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The closure notice has been served by the health officials of the civic body, which asked to close the restaurant within 48 hours of receiving the notice. As per sources, the restaurant faces sealing and action under the Pandemic Act. The popular eating joint in Rajouri Garden, which reopened after being shut for almost three months, landed in trouble as 38 persons were arrested for celebrating a birthday party there on Monday while allegedly violating all social distancing norms. “While a total of 38 persons were apprehended, four people, including the owner of the restaurant, were found responsible for the offence and hence, were arrested but were released on bail later,” the police had said, adding that ‘hookahs’ were also being served during the party...

NASA releases stunning images of cosmic world

Washington, (Samajweekly) NASA has released some stunning and phenomenal images of the universe — galaxies, supernova remnants, stars, planetary nebulas processed by its ‘Chandra X-Ray Observatory’ — the world’s most powerful x-ray telescope. Launched on July 23, 1999, the observatory allows scientists to capture X-ray images of various high energy regions in the universe. X-rays were produced in the cosmic world when the matter heats up to millions of degrees. They are emitted from black holes, neutron stars or supernova remnants. Each composite image released by NASA contains X-ray data from Chandra as well as other telescopes. The objects represent a range of different astrophysical objects and include the galaxy Messier 82, the galaxy cluster Abell 2744, the supernova remnant 1987 A, the binary star system Eta Carinae, the Cartwheel galaxy and the planetary nebula Helix Nebula. The International space agency took to micro-blogging site Twitter and shared beautiful images of the cosmic world with the caption, “Observing our universe in different kinds of light Milky Way”. “Each of these images combines data from our @ChandraXray Observatory with data from other missions,” NASA wrote. The compilation gives examples of images from different missions and telescopes being combined to understand better the science of the universe. Each of these images contains data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory as well as other telescopes. Various types of objects are shown (galaxies, supernova remnants, stars, planetary nebulas), but together they demonstrate the possibilities when data from across the electromagnetic spectrum are assembled...

Separate guidance for reopening schools has been published for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the BBC reported. In Scotland, schools have already reopened, while some students in Northern Ireland will return to school on Monday. In England and Wales, in-person classes are set to begin in September. In a statement released on Sunday evening, Johnson thanked school staff for spending the summer “making classrooms Covid-secure”. “I have previously spoken about the moral duty to reopen schools to all pupils safely,” he said. “We have always been guided by our scientific and medical experts, and we now know far more about coronavirus than we did earlier this year.” Echoing England’s chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty remarks, Johnson said that “the risk of contracting Covid-19 in school is very small and it is far more damaging for a child’s development and their health and wellbeing to be away from school any longer”. “This is why it’s vitally important that we get our children back into the classroom to learn and to be with their friends. “Nothing will have a greater effect on the life chances of our children than returning to school,” the BBC quoted Johnson as saying in the statement...

India’s MiG 29 to fly with Eurofighter Typhoon in Oman

New Delhi, The MiG 29 fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force (IAF) will be flying alongside the Eurofighter Typhoon and F-16 in India’s bilateral air exercise with Oman which kicked off on Thursday. According to the IAF, this is the first occasion that the MiG 29 will participate in an international air exercise outside India. The drill, Exercise Eastern Bridge V, is being held at the Air Force Base Masirah in Oman from October 17-26. The Royal Air Force Oman will fly its UK-made advanced trainer aircraft Hawk too during the 10-day air exercise. India’s military transport aircraft C-17 Globemaster will also participate in the air exercise. “IAF’s Mig-29 Upgrade (UPG) will participate in the exercise along with C-17 Globemaster, which is providing the requisite transport support for induction/de-induction,” tweeted the IAF. As per a statement released by the IAF, the exercise will enhance inter-operability during mutual operations between the two air forces and will provide an opportunity to learn from each other’s best practices...
