No alternative acceptable for mosque in Ayodhya: JuH

Lucknow, Two days before the crucial meeting of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board takes place to discuss the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya, the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind (JuH), a key Muslim litigant in the Ayodhya title suit, has decided not to accept the five-acre alternative land for building a mosque. At its working committee meeting in Delhi on Thursday, the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind (JuH) said that nothing would be acceptable as an ‘alternative’ to a mosque — be it money or land. The JuH did not rule out the possibility of going for a review of the Supreme Court verdict. JuH president Arshad Madani said that a five-member fact-finding committee will seek legal opinion on the matter. Uttar Pradesh JuH president Ashhad Rashidi, who was present in the meeting, said: “Two crucial decisions were taken in the working committee meeting. Anti-CAA protests in Hyderabad, other Telangana towns

Hyderabad, Hyderabad and few other towns in Telangana on Friday witnessed protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Hundreds of people joined the protests on a call given by Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Jamiatul Ulema-e-Hind and other organisations. The protests were peaceful. Immediately after the Friday prayers, people gathered in front of mosques, holding placards and raising slogans against the contentious citizenship law. At some places rallies were organised to demand withdrawal of the controversial legislation. “India rejects CAA, CAA is anti-democratic, anti-secular and anti-India, India needs law and order not citizenship law, we reject the idea of being other, CAA is regressive,” read some of the placards. SC will rule for Babri Masjid, Muslim body believes

New Delhi, The central advisory council of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has said evidences and witnesses suggest the Supreme Court will rule in favour of the Babri Masjid. In a statement, released here on Thursday, the JIH’s advisory council expressed satisfaction with the counsels representing the Muslim side in the Ayodhya title dispute. “They put forth claims over the masjid with facts, evidence and witnesses”, it said. The council also emphasised on the documentary evidence to stake rights over the masjid. Citing the probability of decision in its favour, the Muslim body said, “This will enhance the prestige of the Supreme Court. It will also erase the stain on India’s polity, which it carried after the demolition of the Babri Masjid.” The council said the entire world was awaiting the apex court judgment on the centuries-old dispute...

ISIS module busted in Kashmir, five arrested

New Delhi, (Samajweekly) Five members of the Islamic State of Jammu & Kashmir (ISJK), who had planned to attack an Army camp in Kashmir valley, were arrested by the police from Bandipora district on Saturday. Official sources said that acting on a specific input, the Bandipora district police arrested five terror associates of the ISJK or Wilayah-al-Hind, the regional branch of the pan-Islamist terror group, ISIS. Four of them are from different places in Bandipora and one is from Srinagar, sources said. Incriminating material including matrix sheets, ISJK flags and ammunition was recovered from their possession. On preliminary inquiry, police sources said, it was found that these five members of the ISJK carried out a recee of an army camp as they planned to attack it. The module was also providing support to the terror group in the valley and motivating and radicalising youth to join their terror ranks. Sources said the group was manufacturing flags of the ISJK in Chittibandy Aragam and further supplying them to their associates in Srinagar. The police has filed a case under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act at police Station Aragam and are further investigating the case. A small number of youth in Kashmir began supporting ISIS when the terror group assumed prominence in 2014 with its use of social media to run their propaganda videos of barbaric executions. In a media statement, the JIH President said: “Speaking on and drawing the attention of the government towards the various injustices perpetrated on the minorities is part of his official duty. If the news of this FIR is true, then it is apparent that not only the trusted individuals but also even important democratic institutions are no longer safe from the police transgression. This is a matter of great concern for the entire nation.” JIH said that Khan is a respectable intellectual, writer and journalist. His writings in Urdu, Arabic and English are read all over the world. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Delhi Minorities Commission, an important legal and quasi-judicial institution. Hussaini said: “One may differ with some of the aspects of the social media post of Khan which is being used to file this FIR. He has also issued a note of clarification regarding it.” He praised the genuine efforts of Khan, as the Chairman of Delhi Minorities Commission, to solve the problems of the minorities. “The timely actions by Khan have increased the confidence of Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and all the other minorities of Delhi on the Minorities Commission. Ayodhya, Five days after the Supreme Court announced its verdict on the Ayodhya issue, Mohammad Umar, son of one of the first Muslim litigants, has said that he is ready to file a review petition after an approval from All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), an apex body of the community. The AIMPLB is holding crucial meeting on Sunday to discuss the court verdict and also whether a review petition should be filed in the matter.
