UP-MP Border tense as labour force blocks traffic

Datia-Udgwan (Madhya Pradesh), (Samajweekly) While Madhya Pradesh witnessed peaceful arrival of 343 migrant labourers from Nashik to Bhopal on Saturday morning there were violent scenes later in the day in the constituency of Health and home minister Narottam Mishra when the police tried to stop labourers coming from Uttar Pradesh. There was a major traffic jam at the border post of the two states in Johariya village on Shivpuri-Jhansi highway when police stopped people from crossing the borders into Madhya Pradesh. With no solution emerging for more than 12 hours the workers created a volatile situation on the highway by blocking traffic with boulders. With stranded vehicles forming long queues on both sides of the border there was a threat of violence.Collector of Datia Rohit Singh, SP Aman Singh Rathore and other officials reached the spot. Collector and SP of Jhansi also reached from UP side. After long discussion between the officials of the two states, 10 vehicles were given passage from each state and traffic was eases on the highway. There were 4,000 workers in 300 vehicles, migrant laborers started arriving at Jhansi Border near Johariya village from around 10 pm on Friday night from places like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP etc. These labourers arrived here from Jhansi by various means to reach Kanpur Dehat, Basti Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Orai, Jalaun, Moth etc. The number of these vehicles exceeded about 300. There were about 4,000 workers among them. After stopping them, when these people did not listen to them, they created a ruckus by creating a ruckus. DRDO disinfection chamber put up at AIIMS for Covid control

New Delhi, (Samajweekly) A disinfectant chamber developed by the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) was on Tuesday put up at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. The chamber uses a solution that is known to kill the Covid-19 virus and help control the spread of the infection. The system has been manufactured with the help of M/s DH Ltd, Ghaziabad, within a time span of four days. This system can be used for disinfection of personnel at the areas of controlled ingress and egress such as entry and exit to hospitals, malls, office buildings and critical installations. Vehicle Research Development Establishment (VRDE), Ahmednagar, a DRDO laboratory, has designed the full body disinfection chamber called PSE. This walk through enclosure is designed for personnel decontamination, one person at a time. This is a portable system equipped with sanitiser and soap dispenser. Covid-19: Ghaziabad extends Section 144 till May 31

New Delhi, (Samajweekly) With increasing number of Covid-19 in and around, the Ghaziabad administration on Tuesday extended Section 144 coupled with restrictions similar to lockdown prohibitions, in the city till May 31. The extension has been ordered in wake of rising Covid-19 cases and upcoming Eid festival, an order by Ghaziabad DM said. With the order, all public events like cultural, religious, political, sports programmes and rallies will remain prohibited till May 31. “For any marriage ceremony or funeral procession, prior permission will be required,” the order said. The order repeated the guideline that suggested people aged above 65 and below 10, pregnant women, as well as people with high-risk individuals, to stay at home until and leave residence only in emergency situations. “For permitted activities, people can move around between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.,” it said.A It also added that salons, spas, malls, movie theatres, gyms, sports complexes, swimming pools, entertainment parks, etc will remain closed, while no one is allowed to stand on streets and lanes in groups. “Spitting in public places will be punishable by fine, going out without a face cover will also be a punishable offence, all religious places will remain closed and assembly of five or more people in any public space is prohibited,” the order added. Terror suspect Tunda acquitted in Hyderabad case

Hyderabad, A court here on Tuesday acquitted terror suspect Syed Abdul Karim alias Tunda in the 1998 Hyderabad conspiracy case. The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court acquitted Tunda of the charges due to lack of evidence. Defence Counsel K. Saifullah told reporters that the court acquitted his client of all charges. Tunda, a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba operative and bomb expert, is an accused in 1998 Saleem Junaid module case that was booked by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Hyderabad Central Crime Station. Tunda, 77, was arrested by central agencies in 2013 on the India-Nepal border. Currently lodged in Ghaziabad jail, he is facing terror charges in various places in the country. Tunda allegedly trained youngsters to commit terror activities in India. He along with Junaid, a Pakistani national, allegedly conspired to commit a terror strike during Ganesh festival in Hyderabad in 1998. The lawyer said Tunda was facing conspiracy charges. He was also charged under the Arms Act, Explosives Act and Passport Act...
