Sakshi Maharaj receives threat calls

Unnao (Uttar Pradesh), (Samajweekly) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Member of Parliament (MP) from Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj, said that he has received a threat to his life. The BJP MP said that on Monday, he received two life-threatening calls from the same caller. The caller reportedly threatened Sakshi Maharaj and said that he would eliminate him by exploding his house with bomb. The first call was received at 4:24 p.m. and second at 4:26 p.m. The MP has given a written complaint in this regard at the Sadar Kotwali police station and offices of the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police (SP) Unnao and Principal Secretary Home. “The caller abused me and warned me to face serious consequences for getting his friend Abdul Ghaffar arrested. New Delhi, A Delhi court on Wednesday convicted expelled BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar, his brother and acquitted four others in a case pertaining to alleged custodial death of father of a girl who he raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district three years ago. While pronouncing the judgement, District Judge Dharmesh Sharma observed that the case shows how strings are pulled when a powerful person is involved. “It shows how our system works,” he said. Senger has been convicted under Section 304 part 2 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which pertains to act done knowing it may cause death, but without any intention to cause death. “Sengar had no intention of killing rape victim’s father. He was beaten in a brutal manner that led to his death,” the court said. The judge further stated, “Police officer should have intervened and tried to save the person. There was gross medical negligence. Doctors acted like butchers.” “As there were eighteen injuries on his body but you took him to police station and implicated him in a false case,” the judge further said. Gupta was said to have raised a loan of Rs 2.25 crore from the bank in 2013 in the name of his company Fantasy Motels Private Limited. A bank official said that the cheques issued to the bank by the legislator against loan amount had since bounced. The revenue officials concerned had issued notice for arrest and seizure of property against Gupta in 2016. The MLA, however, claimed that he had deposited the loan amount of Rs 1.40 crore, for which the bank had issued him a recovery notice, at the tehsil. Bank officials maintained that the legislator had failed to repay Rs 75 lakh out of the outstanding dues...

WhatsAppFacebookTwitterTelegramEmail Lucknow, Continuing with his zero-tolerance policy on corruption, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to investigate the charges against suspended Unnao district magistrate Devendra Kumar Pandey over alleged irregularities in expenditure of Composite School Grant fund of the Basic Shiksha Department. The chief minister had suspended the officer on Saturday. According to the government spokesman, Devendra Kumar Pandey had been indicted for financial irregularities in an inquiry conducted by the Lucknow commissioner. He was found prima facie responsible for taking wrong decisions in spending the Composite School Grant fund in the district and in implementation of various programmes linked to it. The inquiry found that most of the material which had to be purchased under the scheme was procured from one firm in Jaunpur at rates higher than the market rates. The quality of the purchased goods too was below the prescribed standards, the spokesperson said. The firm was not registered under the GST, he added...
