Islamabad, Ahead of a verdict in the foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan’s ruling party has raised questions about impartiality of Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd.) Sardar Muhammad Raza. Raza is likely to issue a verdict in the foreign funding case before his retirement on December 6. Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over the PTI’s core committee meeting on Sunday and reiterated the party’s demand that Election Commission hear cases of all three major political parties – PTI, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), simultaneously and refrain from singling out PTI. “The ECP should follow rules, give equal opportunities to all the parties and conduct across-the-board accountability,” Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan told reporters after the core committee’s meeting. Srinagar, (Samajweekly) Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor, G.C. Murmu, on Thursday handed over an ex-gratia relief of Rs 20 lakh to the family members of Sarpanch Ajay Bharti, who was killed by terrorists in Anantnag district on Monday. While paying homage to Bharti, Murmu observed that the supreme sacrifice made by him would always be remembered and the perpetrators of the dastardly act would realise their follies and desist from committing crimes against humanity, a statement issued by the government said. “The relief amounting to Rs 20 lakh includes Rs 5 lakh from SRE, Rs 1 lakh as ex-gratia from the government, Rs 4 lakh from Lt Governor Relief Fund, and Rs 10 lakh out of the Panchayat Welfare Fund,” the statement said. Ajay Pandita Bharti, a resident of Panchayat Halqa Lukhbawan in Anantnag district, was killed after terrorists shot at him from close range on Monday. ew Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said his government plans to expand the bike ambulance services to the entire city as he claimed that the pilot with 16 bikes was successful. To provide the last-mile emergency healthcare services to the people of Delhi living in the narrow lanes, the government launched the bike ambulance service in February. Bus marshals’ number to be raised to 13,000: Kejriwal

New Delhi, To ensure safety of women in the public transport, number of marshals deployed in the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses will be increased to around 13,000. “From tomorrow (Tuesday), marshals are being deployed in every bus for providing safety to women. These 13,000 marshals will also help sick people and deal with any other emergency situations. Delhi is the only state where marshals are being deployed for the safety of people,” Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said here on Monday. Addressing newly recruited bus marshals at the Tyagraj Stadium, Kejriwal said he was assigning them with duty to ensure safe ride for women in buses. Make them comfortable in buses, he told marshals. The announcement has come a day before the rollout of the scheme to provide free ride to women in DTC and cluster buses. The move would help achieve government commitment towards boosting security of women in Delhi, he added. Snowden’s residence permit expired on April 30. He submitted all documents for its extension in mid-March, TASS News Agency reported on Saturday. In late March, the Russian Interior Ministry decided to automatically extend residence permits for all holders. “Due to anti-coronavirus measures, Snowden, just like all other residence permit holders, had this document automatically extended until June 15. Therefore, his residence permit remains valid. Later, a decision will be made about whether it should be extended by three more years upon Snowden’s request and in line with the current legislation,” the source told TASS News Agency. Meanwhile, Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told TASS that his client stays in home and observes the self-isolation regime. “There is nothing we can say as long as self-isolation remains in place. We are all staying home,” he said. In 2013, Snowden leaked information on the methods of electronic surveillance by US intelligence services, including illegally wiretapping foreign leaders.
