Patna, Targeting All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, his brother and Waris Pathan, Union Minister Giriraj Singh asked the Congress, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the alleged ‘tukde-tukde gang’ that ‘do they want that India should become Pakistan’. FacebookTwitterTelegramEmail New Delhi, The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notices on a plea filed by a fringe Hindu organisation for registration of an FIR against three AIMIM leaders on charge of delivering hate speeches. A Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel sought replies from the respondents and listed the matter for April 13 hearing. The petitioner, Hindu Sena, pleaded for directions to the Delhi Police to register an FIR against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and party MLAs Waris Pathan from Mumbai and Akbaruddin Owaisi, adding that their speeches had surcharged communal atmosphere in Delhi. Violence had erupted between pro- and anti-CAA groups in northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad, Maujpur and Gokulpuri areas since Sunday. At least 38 persons were killed and over 200 injured in the violence. The petitioner also sought to be impleaded as a respondent in a plea filed by social activist Harsh Mander who had prayed for the registration of an FIR against three BJP leaders — Anurag Thakur, Kapil Mishra and Parvesh Verma. “Mander’s petition is an attempt to aggravate the situation by seeking criminal action against BJP leaders with the sole intention to defame the Hindus as if the community members are the cause of Delhi riot,” the Hindu Sena said in its application...

Indore, (Samajweekly) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his “goodnight tweet” cheered the public saying “No one lost the battle on the Coronavirus front” in the state on Sunday. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, on the other hand, urged the people to pray to their favourite deities for half an hour on Monday morning to get rid of the pandemic. The Congress was quick to nudge her. State Congress spokesperson Neelabh Shukla on Sunday said, “We have no objection to Tai’s appeal to the general public for praying to the deities. But as one of the senior-most BJP leaders, she should ask the Chief Minister Chauhan how such large number of persons died due to COVID-19 in Indore, the city of his dreams? She should ask him why the public is facing problem in getting essential commodities during the curfew?” In a video message on social media, Mahajan said, “The doctors, government officials, police officers and others are fighting the field battle against the coronavirus. Sitting in our homes we can recite Rudrashtak at 10.30 a.m. on April 20 (Monday) and chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra using a rosary.” Mahajan said she was making this request on behalf of the city’s social organization “Ahilyotsav Samiti”. She heads this organisation. “If you (common people) cannot do these two things, then chant the name of your favourite deity for half an hour in remembrance of Ahilya Mata (ruler of the former Holkar dynasty of Indore whose devotion to Lord Shiva was legendary).”..

A Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel sought responses from the central and Delhi governments apart from Delhi Police on a petition filed by Lawyers Voice. The matter will again be heard on April 13. The plea also sought a case against Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia and Amanatullah Khan, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leaders Akbaruddin Owaisi and Waris Pathan, and lawyer Mehmood Paracha. “Issue directions to constitute an SIT to look into these hate speeches and take appropriate action. Issue direction to register an FIR against those named in the petition,” the plea said. The petitioner maintained that if the relief sought was not granted, hardship to him and others will continue. Several pleas relating to hate speeches by certain political leaders were moved in the High Court on Thursday.
