India Today has accessed details of Intel Alert that warned of the presence of terrorists in Punjab on 14th of November. At least three people were killed and 10 injured in a blast at Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar`s Rajasansi village. The blast occurred during a religious congregation of the Nirankari, a spiritual organisation, in Adliwal village of Amritsar. Eyewitnesses said two young men arrived on a motorcycle and threw a bomb inside the Nirankari Bhawan complex where a large gathering of people was attending a satsang. US Senate intel chair steps down amid stock sales probe

WhatsAppFacebookTwitterTelegramEmail Washington, (Samajweekly) Republican Senator Richard Burr, who is under probes for stock salees he made ahead of a market downturn triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, was stepping down as chairman of the US Senate Intelligence Committee, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced on Thursday. “Senator Burr contacted me this morning to inform me of his decision to step aside as Chairman of the Intelligence Committee during the pendency of the investigation,” McConnell said in a statement on Thursday. “We agreed that this decision would be in the best interests of the committee and will be effective at the end of the day tomorrow.” The FBI reportedly served Burr with a search warrant and seized his cell phone on Wednesday, as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into his stock trades, reports Xinhua news agency. Burr was reported to have dumped stocks worth up to $1.72 million in 33 different transactions on February 13, a week before the stock market declined sharply. He and other Senators had received closed-door briefings from US public health officials on the risk posed by the coronavirus, before most Americans were warned about the potential economic fallout of the pandemic. In a statement on Thursday, Burr said he was stepping aside until the investigation was resolved. “The work the Intelligence Committee and its members do is too important to risk hindering in any way. I believe this step is necessary to allow the Committee to continue its essential work free of external distractions,” the North Carolina Senator said...

LeT plans barbaric attack on J&K army posts: Intel

New Delhi, (Samajweekly) As winter draws near, terrorists based in Pakistan are making desperate attempts to cross the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir to enter Indian territory, intelligence agencies have alerted security establishments in the valley. Sources said 12 Pakistan trained Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) jihadis, in two groups, are making attempts to cross the Line of Control (LoC). To help these terrorists cross the LoC, Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) has planned to carry out attacks on Indian Army posts. The agencies have flagged that in “Bhimbher Gali (BG) sector in Rajouri district six LeT jihadis accompanied with a guide to infiltrate” in Indian territory. Intelligence agency sleuths have also alerted the security establishments, “In Poonch Sector, six LeT accompanied by a commander Abdul Fazal are making attempts to infiltrate and also planned BAT like action”. The security forces stated Pakistan is pushing terrorists in Kashmir after it has failed in its attempt to instigate the people of Kashmir ever since Indian’s decision to scrap the special status of Jammu & Kashmir on August 5. “The summer season is coming to an end so they shall try their best to push in the terrorists to sustain terror activities in the valley,” said a senior IPS officer adding that the counter-infiltration grid is robust and effective in preventing infiltration. In the valley, the officer said, local youth’s participation in militancy activities has reduced and security forces have been able to check the violence levels and killing of their personnel. New Delhi, (Samajweekly) An Intel veteran who helped late physicist Stephen Hawking to speak is now working with Peter Scott-Morgan, a British roboticist who has undergone several operations to head off the incapacity that comes from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neurone disease (MND), the same affliction as Hawking suffered. Lama Nachman, Intel fellow and director of Intel’s Anticipatory Computing Lab, and her team that includes Indian-origin scientists developed the Assistive Context-Aware Toolkit, a software that helps people with severe disabilities communicate through keyboard simulation, word prediction and speech synthesis. Nachman’s team works on context-aware computing and human artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration technologies that can help elderly in their homes, students who might not thrive in standard classrooms and technicians in manufacturing facilities. “I’ve always felt that technology can empower people who are most marginalized. It can level the playing field and bring more equity into society, and that is most obvious for people with disabilities,” Nachman said in an Intel blog post. In 2017, Scott-Morgan received a diagnosis of MND or ALS that attacks one’s brain and nerves and eventually paralyses all muscles, even those that enable breathing and swallowing. Doctors told the 62-year-old scientist he’d probably die by the end of 2019 but Scott-Morgan had other plans.
